Rotterdam is celebrating its port this weekend but today parts of the port are standing still. From 11:15 to 19:00, cranes will stay up as port workers in Europe’s largest port go on strike, affecting vessel handling, including loading, unloading, lashing, towing and cargo inspections. The timing couldn't be more ironic. Today also marks the start of the World Port Days in Rotterdam, a weekend dedicated to celebrating the port and the people behind it.
