OCR isn't just about reading text anymore. The real challenge is understanding the structure behind the document. A clean printed page can be handled easily with classic OCR. But once you add handwriting, tables, multiple columns, poor scans, and mixed layouts, things get much harder. Here's how I think about OCR in 2026: 1.
